Go to Ceunon to recover the orb from the righteous knave. This clue was the least cryptic of all of them. At least it had told him exactly where to go, even if the man he was supposed to meet was a bit ambiguous. Righteous knave?
Upon his arrival in Narda, his old friend, Len, had given him a will that he'd found while cleaning Berl's parents' house, in preparation for its sale. Half of the money from selling the house had gone to Berl, but he'd been more interested in the will. In it, his mother had written that she left an item of utmost importance in his care and that he should search for it under the star and the gem.
Len had known nothing about it, since he had refrained from reading the will until Berl gave his permission. Len, however, saw right through the clue and told him to go to the sanctuary of the dwarves in Tronjheim, where the Isidar Mithrim was.
Of course, upon his arrival, Berl merely found another clue leading him to another city.
But now, assuming this orb was the actual item and not just another clue, he was at the end of his travel. And he was most certainly going to be late for the three week meeting date that he, Nilaya, and Lagritz had set.
Shoving this to the back of his mind, he strode into Ceunon, preparing to search for the "Righteous Knave."

There was a smell in Aroara's nose. A pitch in her ears. A dim glow on the horizon. Someone was coming! Someone exciting! Of course the smell, music, and glow were exciting enough by themselves to Aroara, who had never experienced any of those before. There were no smells, sounds, or sights inside a dragon's egg.
But... she could feel someone important coming. How, she couldn't say. But someone was coming, and wriggled slightly in anticipation.

Berl stopped at a tavern, and cast about for the right person. There! A man in the back was fairly gone in drink, but was still conscious. The only one still awake in the tavern. And it isn't even noon yet, Berl thought, trying not to laugh. He sat down across from the man, who glanced up sharply.
"I don't recall asking you to drink with me," he snarled drunkenly.
"I'm buying," said Berl. The other man cheered up quite quickly. "Two ales!"
"I'll take two ales too," said the man. "Where you from?"
"Around Narda," said Berl, seeing no reason to lie. The man wouldn't remember him after ward and, as far as Berl knew, there was no one chasing him.
"And what is a big boy from Narda doing abouts here?"
"I'm looking for the Righteous Knave," said Berl, realizing how stupid he sounded. The man's eyes flashed, and he smiled.
"Well, I'd say there aren't too many of those, are there?" said the man. "Luckily, I think I know the man you want." Now Berl was suspicious. Firstly, this was too easy, and secondly, the man didn't seem very drunk anymore. "What business do you have with the Righteous Knave?" Berl swallowed.
"He has something of mine," said Berl.
"I should say so," said the man, handing Berl the purse that Berl had lost during the conversation. Berl gaped. The man laughed. "I always give back what I steal. There's no fun in keeping the stuff, especially since it isn't rightly mine, but stealing is very fun." Berl quickly checked through the rest of his belongings. They were all there. In fact, in his backpack, he found something extra: a large blue gem of some sort. The Righteous Knave stumbled drunkenly from the tavern, and Berl stared after him.
Finally he couldn't take it anymore, and he burst out laughing.

She could feel it! The person was almost right on top of her! Her mind began to claw out, trying to see more of this person. She was fed up with being cramped in this egg. She longed for the freedom of the skies, which her mother and father's dead voices told her about while she slept.
And this important person could free her! Why did he make her wait? FREE ME!

He was about a mile from Ceunon when he heard it. FREE ME! He whirled. He'd had a sense of it coming from behind him, but there was nothing there. But... he could still feel whatever presence had called out. It was still behind him. He turned again, slowly. Wherever he turned, it was coming from behind him.
The orb!
He jerked his pack open, and rummaged around for it. Finally, he felt its smooth surface and pulled it from the pack. Its surface throbbed, and then all chaos broke loose. There was a shattering sound, and he suddenly felt something clawing at his mind! He quickly began to throw up mental barriers, but a small voice broke through them.
Let me in! it demanded. There was a sharp pain along his arm and he glanced down and his mouth dropped open. There was a tiny blue dragon clinging to his arm! Its scales rippled with every shade of blue imaginable, from the dark black of the deep night sky to the white light sparkling off the ocean, and everything in between. It had very sharp claws, which it was digging into his arm. He realized in an instant who it was that wanted to get into his mind, and his mental barriers came down. Then, the dragon was instantly swimming through the vaults of his mind, eagerly lapping up everything they had to offer.
"Are you hungry?" he asked, prying it painfully off his arm.
Oh, YES! He smiled and offered it some salted meat from his pack. The dragon snatched it eagerly and began to tear at it savagely, even as she continued to paw through his mind.
He glanced at the palm of his left hand, where there was now a bright white mark where he'd touched the egg.
"A Gedwëy ignasia," he murmured in awe. Just like his mother had had one. His mother, a dragon rider. Now he was too. He glanced down at the dragon... his dragon, and he knew exactly what to call her. "Your name is Aroara." His mother's name.
Aroara set one blue eye on him.
Hush, she said. I'm eating.
